What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition of excessive sweating regardless of the increase in body temperature. While any part of the body can be affected by this problem of excessive sweating the most common parts include the hands i.e. palms, feet, underarms, and groin area.

The word Hyperhidrosis is a combination of the word “hyper – excessive and hidrosis – sweating. This structure is similar to the following words:
Hyperventilating – excessive breathing
Hyperglycaemia – excessive blood sugar (possible causes - overeating, lack of exercise)
Hyperthermia – excessive body heat (possible causes - sun / heat stroke or heat exhaustion)

Although there are many factors that can contribute to excessive sweating the actual cause is unknown.
